HENRY BROOKS, BORn 1880
a wartime journey on horseback

Henry Brooks was born around 1880. He married Frances Bennett around 1905, and they had five children, four girls and a boy, Francis, a submariner killed in combat in 1943. Henry, always a keen horseman, lived in Mill Hill and worked in the city for N.M. Rothschild bank, where he worked on debt structuring for national banks, notably Chile’s. Henry’s third daughter, Norah, born in 1914, married Leo Rabeneck in 1940. Their son Andrew, born 1942, contributed this memoir by Henry Brooks of his 1943 journey on horseback from London to Lincoln.
