SUSAN LONG, BORN C.1987
humanitarian engineer

Susan Long, is an engineering graduate of Robinson College, Cambridge University. She has always championed the social benefits of manufacturing. Throughout her career, she has brought revolutionary manufacturing technologies to some of the world’s most challenging environments. But wherever she works, Susan’s guiding principles remain the same. She says: “Having people make the things they need, where they need them. It’s still a brilliant idea.” She has worked with the charities Engineeers Without Frontiers and Field Ready to bring the benefits of local manufacturing - using advanced techniques such as 3D printing - to Iraq, Syria, and other developing countries.
