ironmonger & councillor

After leaving school Owen Owen Roberts was apprenticed to Mr. Griffith Jones, ironmonger and house furnisher, who established the business in Pool Street, Caernarvon. He remained with the business for 45 years, rising to be managing director. The business grew under his leadership to be one of the largest of its kind in Wales. Roberts was a member of the Caernarvon Town Council, and was also a keen participant in amateur dramatics. His son Emrys won a scholarship to read law at Cambridge University, and was in 1945 elected as MP for Merionethshire.
