Edward Luckock, Born 1871

Edward Luckock was the eldest of the three sons of Herbert Luckock, the Dean of Lichfield Cathedral. He was educated at Eton College and Trinity College Cambridge. He adopted as his profession that of land agent, managing a series of large estates in England and Wales on behalf of their owners. In 1901, while he was in his thirties, he undertook an adventurous world tour, visiting Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. In 1906 he married Muriel Christie; they had three sons and a daughter. He served in the army during the First World War, mainly on coastal defence in Suffolk. After the First World Ware he continued to work as a land agent, and became active in the development of the land agency profession. He was a Council member and then President of the Land Agents’ Society, which had been founded in 1902.
