William waldegrave, born 1946
conservative mp and minister
Baron Waldegrave, whose father was the 12th Earl Waldegrave, is a Conservative politician and life peer. He was educated at Eton College, where he is now Provost, and at Corpus Christi College, Oxford. He was elected a Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford. He served as an MP and Minister in the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major. He held junior ministerial posts in the Education Department, then the Department of the Environment. He was Minister for Local Government, then Minister for Housing, then Minister at the Foreign Office. He joined the cabinet under Margaret Thatcher as Secretary of State for Health.
