Robin Newlands was one of the founders, and President, of the Thames Vintage Boat Club. After a spell in the Merchant Navy he spent many years of his life working on the River Thames for the Thames Conservancy, latterly the Environmental Agency (the government agency that has sole responsibility for management of the River Thames). This culminated in the senior position of River Inspector for a full half of the Upper Thames. He was an enthusiast, all his life, for vintage boats, and tells his life story through various interesting boats he has owned.
