Peter Barber.

pETER BARBER, BORN 1960
ARCHITECT

Peter Barber is a distinguished British housing architect, based in London. His work has several unusual characteristics. Firstly, his projects tend to be low rise, rather than tower blocks. They tend to include pedestrian-friendly narrow streets and courtyards. They use durable traditional materials, notably brick. Unlike many contemporary architects, who design in rectangles, Barber includes curved arches and corners in his buildings. As a result his schemes are remarkably human, friendly, and socially cohesive. They draw basic principles from the past, but embody them in buildings which are truly original and contemporary.
