Norman Frederick Ramsay, born 1862, died 1935, who built and led a company which designed, made and supplied architectural ironmongery to buildings and ships in Britain and across the world. Their products ranged from mundane locks, bolts and bars to bronzeware of great beauty, which still adorns splendid buildings in London and Shanghai. NFR, as he was known to his friends and colleagues also raised a family of three sons and a daughter. This account of his life was written in 2025 by his grandson Roger Garside, with assistance from Lesley Wheeler.
