COSMOLOGIST & ASTROPHYSICIST
Lord Rees, a cross-bench peer, is a leading British cosmologist and astrophysicist. Educated at Shrewsbury School and Cambridge University, he is a former Master of Trinity College Cambridge, and a former President of the Royal Society. Since 1995 he has been the Astronomer Royal. During his academic career at Cambridge he was Professor of Cosmology and Astrophysics, and was Director of the Institute of Astronomy. He is married to the anthropologist Caroline Humphrey.
