Martin Lewis is a journalist, campaigner, entrepreneur and philanthropist. While working as a financial journalist in 2003 he founded, at the age of 30, the website Money Saving Expert. His set up costs were £100 spent on a web designer in Uzbekistan. The website was extremely successful and was sold in 2012 for £87m to Money Super Market. Lewis pledged £10m of the proceeds to charitable causes, and has subsequently donated several million more. He has been a vigorous and successful campaigner on behalf of the consumer on subjects including bank charges, financial education, and Facebook scams.
