MARCELLO NIZZOLI, born 1887
ARCHITECT, ARTIST, AND DESIGNER

Marcello Nizzoli was extraordinarily versatile and creative. An Italian artist, architect, graphic designer and product designer, he created ground preaking products, such as the Olivetti Lettera 22 typewriter, which became collectors’ items. His products not only looked and felt beautiful, but they worked well. Under his design guidance, working alongside the engineer Giuseppe Beccio, Olivetti became one of the world’s leading manufacturers of office equipment. His achievement was recognised by the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, who have included several of his products in their permanent collection.
