lisa jardine, born 1944
HISTORIAN

The historian Lisa Jardine was educated at Cheltenham Ladies College and Cambridge University. she was Professor of Renaissance Studies at Queen Mary University London, and later Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in the Humanities at University College London. She was the eldest of the four daughters of mathematician and historian Jacob Bronowski. All four of her grandparents came to England before the Second World War as Jewish refugees.
