Jo Barton describes her remarkable journey from a dysfunctional childhood, and a teenage life of drink and drugs, to her present role as an A&E doctor. she achieved this by getting a job as a carer, then qualifying as a nurse through the ‘Access to Nursing’ scheme. She then entered the ‘Access to Medicine Scheme’, and is now a fully qualified doctor working in a London hospital.
