BARRIE TAYLOR, BORN 1940
ARMY OFFICER & SPORTSMAN

Barrie Taylor describes himself as having lived a very interesting life for one with such humble beginnings:

Not too many will, for example, have been in a small aircraft doing aerobatics at the age of 17,  and, later in life,  turned down a part in an iconic film, lived as 007 for four months and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.  A keen sportsman all his life, Barrie has played football against another country and cricket against a first class county.  He has also been a British athletics champion six times and represented Great Britain in two athletics championships. He has, among other activities, learned to sail, fence and ride a horse, enjoyed a short singing “career”, as well as making some live radio broadcasts with a very famous lady. During his working life he also experienced being a Defending Officer and a Prosecuting Officer in a court of law. He came three inches from certain death in the jungle and qualified as a ski instructor.
