HELICOPTERS, TELECOMMS & ARCHITECTURE

Alex Reid was educated at Winchester College and Cambridge University where he took a degree in architecture. After graduation he spent five years as a helicopter pilot in the Royal Navy. He completed his architectural training at University College London, where he also undertook a PhD. The main part of his career was with British Telecom, initially in long range studies, and latterly launching Prestel, a precursor of the internet. After a spell in venture capital, his last job was as Director General of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He is the founder and editor of he Lives Retold website.
