Jocelyn's grandfather Alex drove to Cothill on a Friday in January 2008 to take Jocelyn out for a leave weekend at Cambridge. Jocelyn enjoyed changing the voice on the Tom Tom satnav system from English lady to American man to American lady to Irish lady to Spanish lady (in Spanish).

Joceyln brought with him his infra-red movement detector (part of a Spy Kit) and a model of an ancient Egyption Canopic Jar, which I had just posted to him from Jordan. Canopic Jars were used to contain the internal organs of individuals removed during the process of mummification. He went diving, and watched a James Bond film on the sofa. Jocelyn spent time with his St.John's friends Roddy and Esme, going for a muddy walk with Roddy, and undertaking airgun target practice with Esme. Alex ordered him a diabolo online, and went with him on a walk with Cesca in Grantchester Meadows. Jocelyn took his professional catapult and fired small stones at trees and notice boards - with remarkable accuracy. Then back to Cothill.
